Jets Over the Pacific, and Where the Air Show Stands
There was no Point Mugu Air Show in 2026 and no future date has been announced. Here is when it last flew, how to hear first when it returns and where to see aircraft in the meantime.
The short answer
No Point Mugu Air Show took place in 2026, and none is on the calendar. The show is not an annual event. The Navy holds it when the flying schedule, the budget and the airfield allow.
Point Mugu does not appear on the published 2026 schedules for the Navy Blue Angels or the Air Force Thunderbirds, or on either team's preliminary 2027 schedule. The base has not announced a date.
The last show
The most recent Point Mugu Air Show was March 18 and 19, 2023. The Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds shared the bill, a rare double, along with the Navy Leap Frogs parachute team. About 205,000 people came over the weekend.
In 2023 admission, parking and blanket seating were free, with paid premium seats for people who wanted shade and a chair. Gates opened at 8 am.
How to hear first
- Watch the official air show website and the Naval Base Ventura County social media pages.
- The jet teams release their schedules each December for the following year. If Point Mugu is on the list, that is the first public sign.
- Check back here. We update this page when a date is announced.
Where to see aircraft now
- Wings Over Camarillo. A community air show at Camarillo Airport each August. The 2026 show ran August 15 and 16. The 2027 theme is announced and dates were not yet posted.
- Point Mugu Missile Park. A free outdoor display just outside the gate at Naval Air Road with an F-14, an F-4 and decades of missiles tested on the sea range. Open sunrise to sunset.
- Everyday flying. E-2 Hawkeyes and C-130s work the pattern at Point Mugu most weekdays. Highway 1 south of the base is a good place to watch.
- The Point Mugu Surf Contest. Once a year, usually in July, the Navy opens its surf break to the public for a weekend.

If you live under the pattern
Aircraft noise comes with the airfield. Homes in parts of south Oxnard and Camarillo hear more of it during large test events. If quiet matters to you, ask about the base's published noise contours before you write an offer, and visit the street on a weekday.
