How health care works at Naval Base Ventura County. The Navy clinics at both sites, TRICARE West under TriWest, the closest emergency rooms and the Ventura County VA clinic.

Ventura County has no children's hospital. The regional referral centers are Cottage Children's Medical Center in Santa Barbara and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
TRICARE West
TriWest Healthcare Alliance has run the TRICARE West Region since January 1, 2025. Customer service is 888-874-9378.
- Do not disenroll before you move Keep your current coverage through the trip.
- Update DEERS when you arrive Your new address drives everything else.
- Transfer within 90 days Do it online through milConnect, by phone with TriWest, or by mail.
- Pick a plan A move is a qualifying life event, so you have 90 days to switch between Prime and Select.
Active duty members stay on Prime. Family members who live close to a Navy clinic are usually assigned there for primary care.
Urgent care: family members on Prime or Select can use any TRICARE authorized urgent care without a referral. Active duty members need the clinic or a referral from the nurse line.

Pharmacy by mail: Express Scripts, 877-363-1303. Family dental: the TRICARE Dental Program through United Concordia, 844-653-4061.
Ventura County VA care
- Captain Rosemary Bryant Mariner Outpatient Clinic: 5250 Ralston Street, Ventura. Weekdays 8 am to 4:30 pm. 805-339-6400. It opened in September 2022 and replaced the old Oxnard clinic. Primary care, mental health, women's health, audiology, dental, optometry, physical therapy, lab and pharmacy.
- Ventura Vet Center: 790 East Santa Clara Street, Suite 100, Ventura. 805-585-1860. Free, confidential counseling for veterans and families. No VA enrollment or disability rating needed. After hours 877-927-8387.
- Nearest VA hospital: West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, part of the VA Greater Los Angeles system.
- Veterans Crisis Line: dial 988, then press 1. Or text 838255.
